Bed Bugs

Do you remember when going to bed your parents occasionally saying, “Goodnight, don’t let the bed bugs bite? ” Well, according to A. L. Anderson, “bed bugs are making a strong comeback around the world, particularly in developed countries where they have been absent for almost half a century” (Anderson 52). To bring the point closer to home, “all but three states in the United States” have made significant notification of them (Anderson 52). It seems evident that their emergence is likely the effect of the population’s lax and uninformed demeanor towards them. Bed bugs seem to be a superfluous consequence of a cognitive schema that we as a nation have adapted. Bed bug infestations have an adverse effect on health and the quality of life in the general population of the United States of America.
Bed bugs can affect the quality of life in people in numerous ways. Although bed bugs have not been found to actually pass on any infectious diseases, they have been found to carry Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Hepatitis B for up to two weeks.
